Why don't Bobby Jindal and Ted Cruz run for president using their real first names?

Bobby Jindal's real first name is Piyush. Piyush Jindal.

And Ted Cruz's real first name is Rafael. Rafael Edward Cruz.

Piyush, according to Wikipedia, is a Hindi name which means nectar or ambrosia.

"Ambrosia is sometimes depicted in ancient art as distributed by a nymph labeled with that name," [according to Wiki]

Well ok, I guess if I was afraid the liberal media PC jackals might depict me as a Greek nymph surrounded by bees and hummingbirds I'd change my name to Bobby too. But other than that I can't think of any good reason why they don't use their real names -- especially given the rich diversity of multicultural (and metrosexual in the case of Donald Trump) Republican nominees to chose from. Can you?

Donald Trump Fails to Fill Alabama Stadium, but Fans’ Zeal Is Undiminished

By ALAN BLINDER
AUG. 21, 2015

“Please focus your attention to the eastern sky,” a man’s voice announced on the loudspeakers at one point, “for the arrival in Mobile, Ala., of the next president of the United States, Donald J. Trump.” As advertised, Mr. Trump’s jet soon passed over the stadium.

By the time of the flyover, some Trump fans had been at the stadium for about 12 hours, attracted to an event whose potential for scale and boisterousness surged as the week went on.

[...]

Although Mr. Trump has drawn criticism for unveiling few detailed policy proposals, many of his supporters said they were unbothered.

“When he gets in there, he’ll figure it out,” said Amanda Mancini, who said she had traveled from California to see Mr. Trump. “So we do have to trust him, but he has something that we can trust in. We can look at the Trump brand, we can look at what he’s done, and we can say that’s how he’s done everything.”

Still, others said they had plenty of advice for the man they regularly identified in conversation as “Mr. Trump.”

“Hopefully, he’s going to sit there and say, ‘When I become elected president, what we’re going to do is we’re going to make the border a vacation spot, it’s going to cost you $25 for a permit, and then you get $50 for every confirmed kill,’ ” said Jim Sherota, 53, who works for a landscaping company. “That’d be one nice thing.”

RUSH LIMBAUGH: In the case of the... I'm gonna stop calling this illegal immigration 'cause I really don't think that's what this is. I think... Well, I wouldn't go so far as to call it a trap. But it does cause a different way of thinking about it. If people could change their attitude of what's happening and look at it as an invasion -- or if you don't like that term, how about this? How about "colonization"? The left hates that term, right? Okay, if the word "invasion" is too much for you, if that makes you uncomfortable -- you don't want to think of the daily border crossings as an invasion -- then think of it as colonization.

They're not assimilating. There is no desire to assimilate, and we are not forcing it. We are making it very easy for subcultures to exist as subsets of the American culture or with no relationship to the American culture, and it's destructive.

Just like Stalin. Via Wiki:

Population transfer in the Soviet Union may be classified into the following broad categories: deportations of "anti-Soviet" categories of population, often classified as "enemies of workers," deportations of entire nationalities, labor force transfer, and organized migrations in opposite directions to fill the ethnically cleansed territories.

During the 1930s, categorisation of so-called enemies of the people shifted from the usual Marxist–Leninist, class-based terms, such as kulak, to ethnic-based ones. The partial removal of potentially trouble-making ethnic groups was a technique used consistently by Joseph Stalin during his career; between 1935 and 1938 alone, at least nine different nationalities were deported.

Trump 16 / Duke 92

Take a moment to read this New York Times story from the 1992 Republican nomination race.

Duke Takes His Anger Into 1992 Race
By ROBIN TONER
Published: December 5, 1991
New York Times

WASHINGTON, Dec. 4— David Duke, the former grand wizard of the Ku Klux Klan who polarized Louisiana politics with his angry campaigns against welfare and affirmative action, announced today that he was entering the race for the Republican Presidential nomination.

Mr. Duke, who declared his candidacy in a packed news conference at the National Press Building here, accused President Bush of "selling out" the Republican Party by signing a new civil rights bill, by raising taxes and by failing to protect American workers from foreign competition.

The former Klansman and one-time neo-Nazi touched on nearly every volatile issue in American politics: immigration, taxes, crime, racial preferences, "the welfare illegitimate birth rate," the undermining of "Christian society" to the point "where we can't even sing Christmas carols in many of our public schools anymore." Racial Allusions in Speech

[...] On the subject of trade, he said, "We must go to the Japanese and say, 'You no buy our rice, we no buy your cars.' "

[...]

Mr. Duke said today that he believed immigration policies would be a major issue in the election, arguing that "the time has come in America to limit and stop the illegal immigration into our society." He added: "What's happening is, we are unraveling. We're losing our way. This country is overwhelmingly European descent. It's overwhelmingly Christian. And if we lose our underpinning, I think we're going to lose the foundations of America."

David Duke: Duke's plan for stemming the flow of illegal aliens into the United States called for sealing the border. "I'd make the Mexican-American border almost like a Maginot Line," he said, referring to a system of heavy fortifications that France built on its eastern border before World War II. He said he would prohibit businesses from hiring illegal aliens, round up all the illegal aliens, and deport them. He laid out his plan on October 16, 1977, as he and Tom Metzger, his California grand dragon, toured the San Ysidro Port of Entry near San Diego. -  [Tyler Bridges / The Rise of David Duke, page 67]

Donald Trump: "I will build a great wall — and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me —and I’ll build them very inexpensively. I will build a great, great wall on our southern border, and I will make Mexico pay for that wall. Mark my words."

"We're going to keep the families together ... but they have to go."

David Duke Endorses Trump (Via Crooks and Liars)

"I praise the fact that he’s come out on the immigration issue," Duke explained. "That he’s an entrepreneur and he has a good sense of what people want to hear what they want to buy."

"And I think he realizes that his path to popularity toward power in the Republican Party is talking about the immigration issue," the radio host continued. "And he has really said some incredibly great things recently. So whatever his motivation, I don’t give a damn. I really like the fact that he’s speaking out on this greatest immediate threat to the American people."

"I’ve said from the beginning I think his campaign is good in the sense that it’s bringing these issues to a discussion which we have to have in America. And he’s continuing to move the envelope further and I think he understands the real sentiment of America."

Pat Buchanan (1991): "The way to deal with Mr. Duke is the way the GOP dealt with the far more formidable challenge of George Wallace. Take a hard look at Duke's portfolio of winning issues; and expropriate those not in conflict with GOP principals."

"Special Rights" for Rand

"Washington (CNN)—Kentucky's Republican Party voted Saturday to move their presidential nominating event from a May primary to a March caucus -- a victory for Sen. Rand Paul, who will be able to seek re-election to the Senate while continuing his White House bid." (CNN - Mon August 24, 2015)

Now, Rand Paul can fail on two election fronts. So he's headed to Alaska to pan for delegates and squirrel away some nuts. It's going to be a long cold campaign winter for Special Randy.

"I welcome Donald Trump's immigration proposal. Virtually every element in the proposal he submitted is contained within legislation that I filed years ago in the Untied States Senate,” Ted Cruz - Washington Post 8/19/2015
Cruz, who was born in Canada to an American mother and Cuban father, has struck up a friendly relationship with Trump, which may be an attempt to court the front-runner's large following of supporters. A Cruz campaign spokesperson didn't respond to messages seeking comment. - Bloomberg.com 8/20/2015
